How do we make the best of the time we have with children every day? In this interactive workshop, participants will learn what children teach us about the curriculum they need to learn, grow and be ready for school. We will discuss the importance of a play-based curriculum and how it supports a child's developmental agenda. Your role as a nurturing provider and teacher will also be explored.

Strategies For Effective Observing & Recording In Family Child Care
Presenter: Anastasia Galanopoulos, Compass for Kids

We will explore the importance of observations and documentation and how to use these tools to assess both children and programs. Observing children and recording those observations provides an accurate, in-depth picture of each child over time and across developmental areas. Observations also hlep to inform and enhance your curriculum planning as well as your communication with parents. We will identify a variety of tools and techniques and share strategies for fitting observing and recording time into your busy day.
