Job Title: Grant Writer / Development Associate                 Department/Group: Administration

Acre Family Child Care (AFCC) is a nationally recognized non-profit that has been serving children, women and families in Lowell since 1988. Through its mission Acre aims to address two related community needs: economic independence opportunities for women and access to high quality, affordable early childhood education. Our holistic approach helps women achieve economic independence by providing the educational and technical support needed to create sustainable home-based family child care businesses. AFCC’s network of 58 family child care homes provides high-quality and affordable early education and care for nearly 400 children in Lowell every day.

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Grant Writer / Development Associate is a part-time position (20 hours per week) responsible for managing a wide-variety of activities. This includes the management of the AFCC Donor Database along with solicitation and recognition of individual and corporate donors, researching and writing grant proposals, issues related to the public perception of the agency and mission.

 

Specific Responsibilities: 

Work with the Co-Executive Directors to create Annual Fundraising Goal and Plan.

Point person for researching, writing, and submitting grants.

Coordinate the efforts of Departments within the agency to apply for State/Federal Grants and Private Foundations

Develop and maintain database of contacts, donors, businesses, and foundations.

Working with Funders and Volunteers to host Fundraising events and activities

Ability to understand and express value and impact of AFCC mission.

Other duties as assigned

 

Required Education, Experience and Skills:

Bachelors Degree required.

Strong written and spoken communication skills, ability to balance multiple activities, and detail oriented are a must.

Some nights and weekends are required as needed for special events or availability of funders.

Must be able to carry marketing materials including posters and brochures to and from events and activities.

Preference given for proficiency in additional languages spoken by communities in the Lowell area.
